The Happy Hour offers evidence-based neuropsychological assessments for adults (16+) designed to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. These assessments are performed by licensed psychologist Dr. Brooke Rappaport, who specializes in diagnosing ADHD and mood disorders.
Each assessment requires just one morning of your time and includes standardized testing, clinical interviews, history review, and behavioral observations. The process culminates in a detailed written report that provides diagnostic clarity along with tailored recommendations for next steps.
What’s the Process?
When: Assessments take place on Friday mornings.
Before the appointment: You’ll complete a detailed history review, which may include input from close family, friends, and/or teachers (if you are in school) and mentors who know you well.
During the appointment: Dr. Rappaport will conduct a clinical interview and administer gold-standard diagnostic tests.
After the appointment:
- For the Essential ADHD & Mood Disorder Screening, results are available within 2 weeks. You’ll have an in-person feedback session with Dr. Rappaport to review your report, understand your results, and talk through next steps.
- If you are completing our Comprehensive ADHD and Mood Disorder Assessment, your full diagnostic results will be ready within 3 weeks. Dr. Rappaport will meet with you in person to walk through the findings, answer your questions, and outline a tailored plan moving forward.
Exploring a diagnosis from Dr. Rappaport does not require a commitment to ongoing services. Instead, you’ll receive objective results and individualized feedback that can guide your future choices. Because this is a private-pay service, your confidentiality is fully protected, and you remain in control of when and how to share your results.
With this clarity and guidance, you can move forward with greater confidence—finding relief, reassurance, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
What is the difference between the essential and the comprehensive assessments?
ESSENTIAL ASSESSMENT
Our Essential Assessment includes several mood screening assessments as well as the complete Barkley Scales Assessment.
- Mood screenings are used for the early identification and assessment of depression and anxiety symptoms. They help clinicians screen for mental health conditions efficiently, determine the severity of symptoms, and track progress over time, which leads to more personalized and effective treatment plans. These tools are valuable because they can indicate whether a person needs further evaluation and intervention, improving overall health outcomes.
- The Barkley Scales Assessment provides a comprehensive evaluation of ADHD symptoms, executive functioning, and functional impairments. Through a combination of self-report and observer-report forms, the assessment examines:
- Current and historical ADHD symptoms (inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity), including recollection of childhood symptoms and an additional scale that screens for sluggish cognitive tempo (Barkley Adult ADHD Rating Scale).
- Executive functioning skills in daily life, such as managing time, organizing tasks, problem-solving, self-motivation, emotional regulation, and self-restraint (Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale).
- How ADHD impacts real-world functioning, measuring levels of difficulty and impairment across major life domains (work, home, relationships, finances, etc.) using norm-based scoring (Barkley Functional Impairment Scale).
Together, these tools offer an in-depth picture of how both mood and ADHD symptoms show up day-to-day and how they affect quality of life, helping guide accurate and informed treatment planning. To explore the option of an official diagnosis of ADHD, please see our comprehensive assessment.
If after seeing the result of the essential, you would like to pursue completion of the comprehensive assessment, accommodations can be made to complete further testing.

COMPREHENSIVE ADHD & MOOD DISORDER ASSESSMENT
Our comprehensive ADHD and mood disorder assessment combines gold-standard psychological measures to evaluate attention, executive functioning, mood, personality, and how symptoms affect daily life. This allows us to look beyond a checklist of symptoms and understand the full picture of how your brain works.
- WAIS-V (Cognitive Assessment): Measures cognitive abilities such as memory, processing speed, reasoning, and problem-solving to identify strengths and potential areas of challenge.
- Barkley Scales (BAARS-IV, BDEFS, BFIS): Assesses ADHD symptoms past and present, executive functioning in daily life (e.g., time management, emotional regulation), and the degree of functional impairment across major life areas.
- Mood Screenings (PHQ-9, GAD-7, BDI): Screens for depression and anxiety symptoms that may overlap with or mask ADHD, helping ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- CPT-3 (Continuous Performance Test): A computer-based test that objectively measures attention, impulsivity, and sustained focus, providing data on how attention functions in real time.
- PAI (Personality Assessment Inventory): Evaluates personality patterns, stress response, and emotional functioning to help clarify contributing factors and guide personalized treatment planning.
Together, these assessments give a thorough understanding of cognitive strengths, emotional well-being, and how symptoms translate into real-world functioning—leading to a clear diagnosis and actionable next steps.
While both the essential and comprehensive assessments are designed to provide clarity and guidance, participation does not guarantee a diagnosis.
