Kathleen has lived in Nashville since 2000. She was drawn to the mental health field through an interest in connecting with and supporting people through challenging times as well as the desire to live out an instilled belief known as “cura personalis” or “care for the whole person.” This tenet informs Kathleen’s view of health and wellness because it places emphasis on the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of each individual. She believes every person has a unique history and aims to assist her clients in accessing strengths and healing past experiences in order to take steps forward in their lives.
Kathleen strives to create an inviting and safe place for her clients in which they can share their stories openly, feel heard and seen, and be encouraged to connect more deeply to their inner voices and/or challenged to move into new, unexplored areas (whether personally, relationally, professionally, etc.). She is passionate about assisting individuals with anxiety, depression, histories of trauma and/or addiction, self-worth and acceptance, identity exploration and life transitions, as well as grief/loss. Kathleen is EMDR and ACT trained. She also enjoys assisting couples in reconnecting and improving communication; she incorporates elements of Gottman Method Couples Therapy into that work. She is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator and can assist clients with pre-marital counseling.
Favorite feel-good activities:
Hiking, reading a good book, traveling, and exploring all the new spots, especially restaurants, around Nashville.
Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage.
